How to see a doctor online
Some health issues require a visit to the doctor in person, but there are many that can now be sorted by a GP online, via Telehealth.
An online GP can help you with many common health problems, whether you need advice, a prescription, a referral letter or some other paperwork such as a medical certificate. Most providers, such as Qoctor, will do this via a video consultation. Prescriptions, letters and certificates can be sent to you, immediately after your appointment. The doctors at Qoctor are all based in Australia and are registered with AHPRA.
How to see a doctor online for a medical certificate
If you’ve missed work or uni due to a minor illness like a head cold, sore throat or gastro, you can get a medical certificate online. This is particularly convenient if you are unable get an appointment with a local doctor the same day, or you prefer to get your medical certificate without leaving home. Simply register with Qoctor, answer a few questions about your health, and book a video consultation. Once you’ve had your appointment, the certificate can be downloaded immediately.
Having a video consultation with an online doctor
A video consultation with an online doctor is similar to any doctor’s appointment. The doctor asks a few questions and will make sure that your symptoms don’t require a physical examination or tests. This will only take a few minutes. For many issues, like head colds, sore throats, gastro, period pain, migraine or minor injuries, a doctor can safely make a diagnosis based on the history. After the appointment, you can download your certificate, and print it or email it to your employer/university.
What if the doctor thinks I need to be seen in person?
Safety comes first, so if the online doctor feels you need to be examined, you’ll be advised to attend a doctor in person instead, and Qoctor will refund you.
